Marcia L. Jackson
Marcia was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. She began studying piano at an early age, and she began accompanying church and school groups at the age of 10.
During high school she accompanied choirs, ensembles, soloists, musicals and district festivals.
Marcia graduated form North Park College in Chicago, Illinois with two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance.
She sang alto in the college choir, and she also performed and recorded with a six-member gospel team known as One Way Street.
Marcia remained in the Chicago area following graduation, teaching first grade and serving as church organist to several churches. In 1980 Marcia moved with her family to Wilbraham, Massachusetts. She became
an active member of Evangelical Covenant Church, where she directed the children's choir, bell choir, and high school choir.
Marcia has also taught music at Make Way for Ducklings nursery school, served as organist at Foster Memorial Church, and as organist/choir director at Church in the Acres.
She became the organist at Faith United Church in September, 1993. She is the accompanist for the Wilbraham Community Chorus and the Wilbraham Men's Glee Club.
For the past fourteen years Marcia has taught first or second grade in the Hampden/Wilbraham school system. Marcia currently teaches first grade at Mile Tree School in Wilbraham.
She lives in Wilbraham with her husband Doug, two college-age children, Rusty and Jen, and her pet beagle Holly.
