Raymond Drury
Raymond Drury was born July 11, 1956 and grew up in West Springfield, Massachusetts, graduating from West Springfield High School in 1974.
Ray has a long history with Faith United Church, having attended here as a boy until 1968 when his family relocated and began attending Mitteneague Congregational Church in West Springfield.
After ten years there, culminating in his marriage in December of 1978 to his wife Nancy, Ray returned to Faith United Church and has been a member here ever since!
Not content with simply sitting in the congregation, Ray became the Bass Soloist in the Chancel Choir, a position he held until he took over the reins as Music Director/Choirmaster in 1992.
He is well suited and, one might say, born for his work as a Musical Director, given his natural gifts as a consummate musician and his formal education to hone those gifts into a career that has raised the level of choral programs throughout the greater Springfield area.
Ray received his Associates of Art in Music Education from Holyoke Community College in 1976, his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Westfield State College in 1978 and his Master of Education with a Music Emphasis
from Westfield State College in 1991.
Ray's full time position is as Fine Arts Chair/Choral Director at Minnechaug Regional High School.
As if a full time career as an educator, combined with a part time career as a choirmaster isn't enough, Ray also finds time to direct the Wilbraham Men's Glee Club, a position he's held from 1992 and in 2001 he also became the Artistic Director of the Wilbraham Choral Society.
Faith United Church boasts one of the very best chancel choirs in the greater Springfield area thanks to his talent and dedication.
Ray and his wife Nancy have three children, Sara, Colin and Bryan and recently
welcomed puppy Spenser into the family.
