Although we begin our Sunday worship service with a warm welcome, prayer concerns, joys and announcements, it is the lighting of the altar candles that centers our spirits for the body of the service.
The young person that lights these special candles each week is known as an Acolyte. The word acolyte comes from the Greek "akolouthos" meaning attendant, one who serves or assists.
Our young acolytes are an integral part of the beauty and symbolism at the start of worship and our service would lose something very meaningful without their participation.
